Abstract

This project reviews the evolution of the main functions of the university since its inception, focusing on the activities of "third mission" assumed by Latin American universities—as a result of their underdevelopment—in solving social problems, and the progress of the disadvantaged population. Similarly, it exposes the concrete contribution offered by the universities of Bolivar department in solving problems and meeting the needs of society, identifying the type of relationship that these institutions undertake with the business and social sector in the framework of their "outreach" mission.
